This is the Date Difference Calculator. It counts the days, weeks, months, and years between any two dates, with an option to include both the start and end dates.

How to Use the Date Difference Calculator

Enter the more recent date in the first field and the earlier date in the second, then press Calculate. The results show the distance between the two dates expressed four ways — in years, in months, in weeks, and in total days. Each result has a copy button so you can paste it straight into a document, email, or calendar entry.

If you enter the dates the wrong way round, the calculator notices and offers to swap them for you rather than returning a negative number.

Counting Both the Start and End Dates

By default the calculator counts the gap between the two dates, so a Monday and the following Tuesday are one day apart. Tick Include both start and end dates to count both endpoints instead, which returns two days for that same pair. Which one you want depends on the rule you are applying — contracts, statutes, and court rules differ on whether the first day counts.

Calendar Days, Not Court Days

This page counts plain calendar days. It does not skip weekends or holidays, and it does not adjust a date that lands on a day the courthouse is closed. If you are working out a filing deadline, use the court deadline calculator, which excludes weekends and the eleven federal holidays and moves the landing date according to the direction you choose.
